MS Insurance Inc. and MaxSecure Insurance & Investments (“we”, “I”) operate themanpreetsingh.ca. To give you access to and recommendations about financial products and services, we collect certain personal information about you. We follow the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Canada’s federal privacy law, and any provincial privacy laws that apply.
1. Accountability
We are responsible for the personal information we receive from our clients and take reasonable steps to safeguard it in whatever form it is held. Our Privacy Officer is Manpreet Singh (contact details at the end of this page).
2. What we collect
The details you give us through forms, the quote tool, email, phone or booking: your name, email, phone number, preferred contact time, province, date of birth, gender, tobacco use, coverage amount and similar details you enter to get a quote. If you become a client, we also collect personal, corporate, financial and health information, identification and beneficiary details needed to advise you and arrange products. We also collect basic technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, through cookies and similar tools. We collect only what helps us formulate advice and meet our regulatory obligations, and only by fair and lawful means.
3. Why we collect, use and keep it
To identify financial products and concepts that address the needs you have told us about, to make and support recommendations, to administer products or services you buy through us, to meet legal and regulatory duties (including showing that our recommendations are appropriate), to prevent fraud, and to improve our website. With your consent, we may also tell you about new products or services that may interest you.
4. Consent
We collect information only with your consent. By submitting a form, ticking a consent box or signing our privacy consent, you agree, for yourself and on behalf of your executors or administrators:
- to give us accurate information throughout our relationship as your circumstances change;
- to let us use, share and disclose this information as needed with our suppliers, associates, managing general agencies (MGAs) and wholesale organizations, who may keep some information on file for future use and reference by us, our suppliers and any assignees;
- to let us keep your personal information, including health information on your applications, in our paper and electronic files for as long as you wish us to be your advisor, or we have a business or regulatory need to keep it; and
- to the assignment of your file to another agent or MGA, to keep servicing your needs, if I become incapacitated, die or retire. You have the right to choose your own agent at that time if you do not agree.
5. Who we share it with
We provide your information to insurers, often through MGAs, which are contracted to provide administrative services to insurers. Our life insurance contracts are placed through Customplan Financial Advisors Inc. We may share information with our employees and service providers so they can perform their duties (website hosting, quote engine, customer-relationship management, email and scheduling tools), with insurers and any person or organization you have consented to, with professionals who can help you in areas outside our expertise, and with regulators where the law requires. We do not sell your personal information.
6. Quote tool
When you request a quote, the details you enter are sent to our quote-comparison provider, WinQuote, to produce results. WinQuote does not store the details you enter. We receive your contact details only if you submit an Apply now or Email quote request.
7. Storage outside Canada
Our customer-relationship system stores its data in Canada. Our website is hosted by a provider that may store or process information in other countries, including the United States, where it may be accessible to courts and authorities under local laws.
8. How long we keep it
As long as you are our client and for as long afterwards as we have a business or regulatory need, generally 7 years after our relationship ends. Information no longer needed for the purposes identified is securely destroyed.
9. Accuracy of information
To make appropriate recommendations, we must receive accurate information. We try to keep your information accurate and up to date and, where appropriate, review whether past recommendations still suit your circumstances. We also rely on you to give us regular updates.
10. Safeguards
All employees, associated advisors, wholesale organizations and suppliers granted access to client records must keep the information protected and confidential and use it only for the purposes identified. We have physical and systems safeguards and proper processes to protect client information from unauthorized access or use. No system is completely secure, so please do not send sensitive information by ordinary email.
11. Your privacy choices
You may ask to review the personal information we hold about you. You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual obligations and on reasonable notice, by contacting us. Withdrawing consent may prevent us from providing requested products or services and may end our business relationship.
12. Cookies and analytics
We use necessary cookies to run the site. If we add analytics cookies, we will ask for your consent first, and you can change your choice in your browser settings.
13. Your right to complain
If you have a concern about how we collect, use or disclose your personal information, you may raise it with us or with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca. See also our complaints process.
14. Electronic communications (CASL)
With your consent, we may send you electronic messages about your insurance needs and about products and services that might benefit you. You may withdraw your consent at any time by writing to the Privacy Officer; every marketing message includes an unsubscribe option.
